Tools and plugins used (including web analytics tools and social media)
Amazon Web Services
We use services provided by Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg (“AWS”) on our website.
When using AWS services, data may be transferred to the parent company Amazon Web Services, Inc., 410 Terry Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109, USA. Amazon Web Services, Inc. has joined and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, meaning that data transfers to the USA are carried out on the basis of the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 (Art. 45(1) GDPR). Furthermore, Amazon Web Services, Inc. has contractually undertaken, on the basis of the EU Standard Data Protection Clauses, to ensure a data protection standard that is essentially equivalent to the European standard when transferring personal data from the European Economic Area (Article 46(2)(c) of the GDPR).
Further information on Amazon Web Services can be found in the privacy policy, available at:
https://aws.amazon.com/de/privacy/
We use the cloud infrastructure of Amazon Web Services to host our website and the associated IT systems. In doing so, AWS processes personal data generated on our behalf – in particular IP addresses, access data, browser and device information – exclusively on our instructions and is contractually bound as a data processor within the meaning of Article 28 of the GDPR.
The legal basis for data processing is our legitimate interest in the secure and efficient operation of our website (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
Google Services
We use services provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, Tel.: +353 1 543 1000, Fax: +353 1 686 5660, Email: support-deutschland(at)google.com (“Google”) on our website.
When using Google services, data may be transferred to the parent company Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. These standard contractual clauses constitute an additional data protection guarantee on the basis of which data may be transferred to third countries such as the USA (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee that Google will be able to comply with these contractual obligations in every instance.
Further information about Google can be found in the privacy policy available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de
The individual services used are described below:
Google Analytics
We use the analytics and statistics tool ‘Google Analytics’ on our website. Google Analytics enables us to analyse the use of our website in statistical form. This allows us to understand how users arrive at our website, which content and sections particularly interest them, and what actions they take on our site.
In particular, Google collects the following categories of data:
-
Truncated (anonymised) IP address,
-
the webpage visited,
-
the website from which the user arrived at the page visited (so-called referral URL) and the type of referrer (e.g. search engine, social network, link),
-
search terms used by users to find our website,
-
the subpages opened from the page visited,
-
the duration of the visit to the website,
-
the frequency of visits to the website,
-
Information about the target group (so-called persona),
-
location data (geographical region, country, city),
-
language settings,
-
browser, operating system, device, screen resolution,
-
predefined actions (conversions), e.g. clicking on advertising banners, downloading information material,
-
click path on the page, e.g. entry and exit points, order in which the user views page content.
Google deletes the user data collected via Google Analytics after 14 months at the latest.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
In addition to adjusting the relevant settings in your browser, you can also prevent data collection by Google Analytics cookies by using the browser plugin provided by Google for this purpose:
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
Campaign Manager (Google DoubleClick)
We use the “Google Campaign Manager” tool from the Google Marketing Platform. Google Campaign Manager uses cookies to display ads relevant to users, to optimise the performance of advertising campaigns, or to prevent a user from seeing the same ads multiple times.
In addition, Google Campaign Manager can use cookie IDs to track so-called conversions related to displayed advertisements. This includes, for example, when a user sees an advertisement on the Google advertising network and later visits the advertiser’s website using the same browser and performs a specific action there.
Due to the marketing tool used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to Google’s servers. By integrating Google Ads into our website, Google receives the information that you have accessed the relevant part of our website or clicked on one of our adverts. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can associate the visit with your account if you are logged in to it. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, there is a possibility that Google may collect and store your IP address.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Google Ads (Google AdWords)
We use “Google Ads” to display advertisements to you on websites operated by Google and other third parties. The advertisements are delivered by Google via so-called “ad servers”. To this end, we use cookies that enable certain parameters to be recorded for measuring the success of advertisements, such as the number of impressions or clicks by users. If you arrive at our website via a Google advert, Google Ads will store a cookie on your device. This cookie typically stores the following analytical data: the cookie ID, the number of ad impressions, the last impression, and opt-out information (indicating that the user no longer wishes to be targeted).
These cookies enable Google to recognise your web browser. If a user visits specific subpages of a Google Ads customer’s website and the cookie stored on their device has not yet expired, Google and the customer can recognise that the user has clicked on a specific advertisement and been redirected to the customer’s page. Each Google Ads customer is assigned a different cookie. We ourselves do not collect or process any personal data on the basis of the aforementioned advertising measures. Google merely provides us with statistical analyses. Based on these analyses, we can identify which of the advertising measures used are particularly effective. We do not receive any further data from the use of the advertising materials; in particular, we cannot identify users on the basis of this information.
You may also see advertisements from us on other websites within the Google advertising network after visiting our website (so-called retargeting). This is done via cookies stored in your browser, which Google uses to track your usage behaviour when visiting our site.
Due to the marketing tool used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to Google’s servers. By integrating Google Ads into our website, Google receives the information that you have accessed the relevant part of our website or clicked on one of our adverts. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can associate the visit with your account if you are logged in to . Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, there is a possibility that Google may collect and store your IP address.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Further information can be found in Google’s privacy policy at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de
Google AdSense
We use the online advertising service Google AdSense, which enables us to display adverts tailored to your interests. We do this to show you adverts that may be of interest to you, in order to make our website more engaging for you. To this end, statistical information about you is collected and processed by our advertising partners. These adverts can be identified by the label ‘Google Ads’ in the respective advert.
When you visit our website, Google receives the information that you have accessed our website. To do this, Google uses a web beacon to place a cookie on your computer. Your data is transferred to the USA and analysed there. If you are logged in to your Google account, your data can be directly associated with it. If you do not wish for your data to be associated with your Google profile, you must log out. It is possible that this data may be passed on to Google’s contractual partners, third parties and public authorities.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
This website also uses third-party Google AdSense adverts. The aforementioned data may be transferred to these third parties (listed at: https://support.google.com/dfp_sb/answer/94149).
Google AdSense for YouTube
We also use Google’s ‘AdSense for YouTube’ service on our website, through which personalised advertising is displayed in connection with embedded YouTube videos. Unlike Google AdSense for website display advertising, AdSense for YouTube additionally collects data relating to video usage. In particular, the following categories of data are processed:
-
Truncated (anonymised) IP address,
-
Video usage behaviour (videos viewed, playback duration, interactions),
-
Device information as well as browser and operating system data,
-
Location data (geographical region, country),
-
User identifiers and cookie information for ad targeting,
-
Interaction data with displayed advertisements (e.g. clicks, skipping of adverts).
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect.
Further information on AdSense for YouTube can be found in Google’s privacy policy, available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de
and in the YouTube Terms of Service at:
https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.
Google reCAPTCHA
We use Google’s ‘reCAPTCHA’ service on our website to protect entries on our website from misuse by automated access (so-called bots) and to ensure the security of our website. reCAPTCHA analyses the behaviour of website visitors based on various characteristics in order to distinguish between human users and automated access. In particular, the following categories of data are processed:
-
IP address,
-
Date and time of the visit,
-
browser and operating system data as well as device information,
-
mouse movements and interaction behaviour on the website,
-
time spent on the website,
-
cookies set by Google,
-
Browser language settings,
-
location data (geographical region).
The analysis by reCAPTCHA takes place entirely in the background; website visitors are not specifically notified of this. The data collected is transferred to Google’s servers and processed there. With regard to the transfer of data to third countries (the USA), the safeguards set out in the ‘Google’ section apply accordingly (Art. 45(1), Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).
The legal basis for data processing is our legitimate interest in the security and protection of our website against malicious automated access (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
Further information on Google reCAPTCHA can be found in Google’s privacy policy, available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de
as well as in the Google reCAPTCHA Terms of Service at:
https://policies.google.com/terms?hl=de
Google Tag Manager
We use the “Google Tag Manager” tool on our website, which allows advertisers to manage website tags and thus the setting of cookies.
Google Tag Manager is designed as a cookie-free domain and merely implements tags. Tags are small code elements on the website that serve, amongst other things, to measure traffic and visitor behaviour, track the impact of online advertising and social media channels, identify our website’s target audiences, and test and optimise the website. With the help of Google Tag Manager, we can control the setting of such cookies on our site.
No additional cookies are set by Google Tag Manager and no personal data is collected. Google Tag Manager triggers other tags which may collect personal data, but does not itself access this data. If a deactivation has been carried out at domain or cookie level, or an objection has been raised, this remains in effect for all tracking tags on, insofar as these are set using Google Tag Manager.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Google Fonts
We use external fonts from Google on this website: Google Fonts. These web fonts are integrated via a server request. This may also involve a Google server in the USA. In doing so, information regarding which of our web pages you have visited is transmitted to the server. Google also processes the IP address of your device.
The purpose of using Google Fonts is to ensure consistent font display. The legal basis for this is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
We do not process the data collected by Google as a result of the use of Google Fonts.
Google Maps
We integrate maps from the Google Maps service. This allows us to display interactive maps directly on our website and enables you to use the map function conveniently.
When you access the Google Maps component integrated into our website, Google stores a cookie on your device via your web browser and processes the following data:
-
The operating system
-
Information about the browser type and version used
-
Information about your internet service provider
-
Your IP address
-
Date and time of access
-
Websites from which you accessed our website
-
Websites you visit via our website
This occurs regardless of whether Google provides a user account through which you are logged in, or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data may be associated with your account. If you do not wish for this association with your Google profile, you must log out.
Google stores your data as usage profiles and uses them for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or the needs-based design of its website.
Such analysis is carried out in particular (even for users who are not logged in) to provide personalised advertising.
We use Google Maps to display maps on our website, in particular for route descriptions.
The legal basis for the processing is your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
YouTube
We embed videos and photos on our website that are stored on ‘YouTube’. YouTube is a platform operated by Google.
In doing so, Google collects your IP address, the date and time of the visit, as well as information about the subpage of our website you visited and the video you viewed. This occurs regardless of whether you are logged into a YouTube user account. A connection is also established to Google’s advertising network.
We use the enhanced privacy mode here, which, according to the provider, only triggers the storage of user information when the videos are played. This means that as long as you simply visit one of our webpages with an embedded YouTube video without playing the video, no data is transmitted to Google. Transmission only takes place when you start a video.
Cookies are set to save your preferred settings regarding video playback and data transmission to Google. These cookies contain pseudonymous data (e.g. cookie ID) for the purpose of recognising the browser.
If you are logged into YouTube at the same time, Google may associate your viewing of the video on our site with your YouTube account and use this for the purpose of personalised advertising. If you do not wish your YouTube profile to be associated with your visit to our site, you must log out of your YouTube account before activating the YouTube plugin.
The legal basis for data processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
