With the help of GAPTEQ, packaging manufacturer Südpack revamped its sales master data management system. An integrated, user-friendly interface enables fast and detailed delivery of sales and turnover figures for central budget and sales planning. The company has thus optimised its sales planning in a smart way.

Challenge

As part of sales planning in SAP APO, the planning data (master data) for the sales budget was previously recorded in hundreds of Excel files and sent out. This data was collected and consolidated centrally in SAP BW for further planning and reporting. This process needed to be simplified and integrated. In addition, the elimination of SAP BW was expected to result in enormous savings potential.

Solution

With the ‘BudgetPlanApp’, Südpack has developed a database application based on GAPTEQ for recording sales data for budget and sales planning. The interface offers a clearly arranged series of buttons for the various tasks.

The planning data is entered and maintained using tables that clearly display all current master data. New items or customers that are included in the planning for the first time can be entered via separate dialogues and then planned. While processing the planning data, the planning employee can open reports via the interface to check the planning results to date.

With the new GAPTEQ solution, Südpack also rebuilt the technical basis for data storage and planning, replacing the previous infrastructure. Südpack sees another advantage in the ‘modular’ nature of GAPTEQ, which will make it easy to expand the solution to meet additional requirements in the future.

Result

Currently, over 150 employees at Südpack work with the GAPTEQ solution. They can enter planning values much more quickly and plan in greater detail by assigning planning keys. This also eliminates the need for manual downloads, uploads and checks of Excel files, which saves a considerable amount of time.
